After Russia

An album of songs on the poems of the 'unnoticed generation', aimed at bringing their stories closer to ours.

‘After Russia’ is an album of songs based on the poetry of the 'unnoticed generation' – writers and poets who began their work in emigration but never reached readers back home. The album begins and ends with a dedication to the prominent emigration poet Georgy Ivanov. The symbolic end of the first wave of Russian emigration is marked by the deportation of intellectuals in 1922/23, later referred to as the 'philosophical ship'. The album name references Marina Tsvetaeva's collection of émigré poems published in Paris in 1928.
